  1. We used the Canon 5D. I wanted to be able to use a camera that would work well in tight situations, so the full frame sensor was perfect. I also appreciated the maneuverability of the camera for all of the shoulder rig shots I got.

We just used a couple of lights from the Lowell kit because they were portable and they were bright enough for our lowish light shots.

I learned that I need to check EVERY setting on the camera before shooting, including, somehow, frame rate. I also learned a lot about operating the shoulder rig and that certain elements are required to make the pocket dolly feel smooth. I learned a little bit about shooting with different lenses and feeling how they feel on a full-frame sensor as well.

I’m happy with the framing of most of the shots, as well as our choice of lenses. Most of the shots feel focused and purposeful to me. I wish I had done better on the shakiness of one or two of the dolly shots, as well as that one shot where the angle was all off for some reason. I also wish we could see more in the outdoor shots.

For the most part I was very happy with the takes Brenna chose, other than the one slanty shot of Brendan walking in the door. I understand her choice based on performance, however. I saw one or two shots that seemed slightly out of focus to me, but I was happy with the focus on a lot of the shots.

Overall I feel happy with the way the project turned out. The suspense came through very well to me, as well as the comedy. I liked learning how to use the 5D, which was for the most part simple and intuitive, except for a few crucial things that were hard to find within the menus. However, overall I now feel prepared to use it on the fly if I need to again.
